Outward Bound
Set in 18 acres of woodland and lake Ullswater shore, the Outward Bound centre is an exciting yet challenging experience for our year 6 pupils. Located in the beautiful Lake District, pupils are taught all about independence and teamwork through various activities ranging from canoeing to orienteering to mountain climbing.
The 3-day course really helps improve relationships, emotional wellbeing and resilience leaving pupils with the confidence to tackle the real world head on.
Camping
With the aim of exploring the ‘Great Outdoors’, our year 3 pupils go on a Field trip to Epping Forest. Many pupils not only enjoy the outdoors by day, but also by night. Listening to the whistle of the wind and the patter of rain on their tents.
Pupils spend the day immersed in nature, enjoying challenging outdoor pursuits and developing their team work skills. The experience of a roaring camp fire, den building and a range of outdoor activities really inspire our pupils and boost their communication and writing skills.
Festival of Voices
Festival of Voices is an annual singing event celebrating a Creative Arts Partnership of six Newham Schools, Britannia Village, St. Helen’s, Star, St. Joachim’s, Ranelagh and Curwen who have worked together for over 16 years. Our aim is to raise standards for all our children through art and music.
The event culminates with a performance at the Hackney Empire.
Gruffalo Trail
Each year our Reception pupils head off to Brentwood in search of the Gruffalo! The excitement of searching the trail helps to develop our pupils sense of exploration and discovery.
York Visit
To help engage our pupils more with History we arrange a visit to the historic city of York where they explore such sites as the 13th-century Gothic cathedral, the Jorvik Viking Centre and Barley Hall – a reconstructed Tudor townhouse.
