Head Teacher’s Message
Thank you for visiting Star Primary School website.
At Star Primary you will find motivated children inspired by wonderful adults. We have designed this website to reflect our ethos and give you a flavour of our school. We are very proud of our school, which has served the local community for over 125 happy years and it is an honour for me to serve as the Head Teacher of such an amazing school.
Our staff are committed to our inspiring Rights Based Curriculum, which offers full coverage to the National Curriculum. Children will have the opportunity to encounter six topic based themes over the course of each year and build on their knowledge within these themes as they progress through the school. Music and PE play a leading role in our commitment to children’s holistic development and highlight the importance we place on developing an all rounded educational experience for children. Fit Friday is one of our favorite days of the week, with a focus on healthy minds and bodies. Spanish is taught across KS2 and we are extremely lucky to have native Spanish speakers on our staff.
Fundamentally, we aim to develop children’s competence and abilities in the basic skills of Reading, Writing and Numeracy because these are the building blocks of all other learning. We are also striving to develop the Holistic Curriculum, focussing more on outdoor learning, teamwork, developing self-esteem and looking after our children’s emotional well-being.
Star Primary is a school that works for working parents. We offer alternative school hours from 7:50am to 2:10pm, meaning that working parents can drop their children to school and still be on time for work without having to pay for children to attend a breakfast club facility. Additionally, we offer 4 extra hours of intervention per week for those children who would benefit from additional support.
