What an exciting experience for all the children in Reception at Star to watch the eggs hatch and the ducklings grow day by day. This amazing opportunity offered a hands-on experience that fostered curiosity and gave the children freedom to touch, smell and hear what was happening with the eggs and ducklings. This experience also gave us the opportunity to discuss how we care for living things. The children used their kind and gentle hands with the duckling and were quiet when they were sleeping or got them out. In addition to this, the children loved to sing songs and join in the rhymes and poems about chicks and ducklings like “5 little ducks” and “Spring chicken”. What a fantastic experience this was for them!
